Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbaev has arrived in Moscow for a previously unannounced visit, with the Central Asian leader expected to meet for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on October 9.

The Kremlin announced the planned talks, while the Kazakh Foreign Ministry confirmed Nazarbaev's arrival and said the visit came at Putin's invitation.

Kremlin officials said Putin and Nazarbaev would discuss mutual cooperation in the energy, space, and industrial sectors, including the development of direct trade and economic ties between regions of the two countries, as well as key international issues.

The two leaders met in June during Putin's official visit to Kazakhstan and last month during the Russian-Kazakh forum on interregional cooperation in Kazakhstan’s northern city of Pavlodar.
