ASTANA -- Kazakhstan's parliament has begun discussing a controversial draft law that enables law enforcement agencies to collect detailed and confidential information about citizens.
Titled "Personal Information," the bill has raised concerns over privacy issues.
It allows officials to obtain data about citizens' marital status, real estate and other assets, as well as biometrics, including fingerprints and eye scanning.
Critics say the bill contradicts the country's constitution, which guarantees the privacy of citizens' personal lives.
