BATKEN, Kyrgyzstan -- Four members of a Kyrgyz family have been shot dead in their house in Kyrgyzstan's southern Batken Province, which borders Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The deputy chief of the Batken regional police, Ulan Rysbekov, said September 6 that the incident took place overnight.
A local businessman in the village of Kara-Bulak, Tajibai Chotbaev, survived the attack and is currently in the hospital. He lost his wife, a son, a daughter-in-law, and a young grandchild. No more details have been given.
The incident took place two weeks after the murder of five members of a Tajik family in a Tajik village located on a disputed segment of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border in Batken. A joint Tajik-Kyrgyz investigative group has been looking into the incident.
