Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has held talks in Yerevan with his Armenian counterpart, Edvard Nalbandian.

Speaking with reporters in the Armenian capital on June 23, Lavrov said he and Nalbandian had discussed Armenia's integration into Eurasian Economic Union (EES) structures, as well as the two countries' cooperation within regional and international organizations.

Armenia has announced its intention to join the EES later this year.

The presidents of Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus signed a treaty last month on the creation of the EES as of January 1, 2015.

Lavrov added that Russia supports continued direct dialogue between the Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents on a resolution of the conflict around Azerbaijan's breakaway region of Nagorno-Karabakh.
