Moldovan, 3 Russians Charged With Supporting Militants

A Czech prosecutor says three Russians and a Moldovan have been charged with supporting a militant group that operates in Russia's volatile North Caucasus region.

Prosecutor Etela Parikova says the four men are accused of providing fake documents to members of Jamaat Shariat, a militant group operating in Daghestan.

The four were among a group of people arrested in the Czech Republic by antiterrorism police during an April 2011 raid.

If convicted, the men face up to 10 years in jail.

Parikova said on March 29 that the trial, the first on terror support charges in the Czech Republic, should begin in a month.

Based on reporting by AP and CTK

RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
