Pakistan Army Says 910 Militants Killed In Anti-Taliban Campaign

The Pakistani military says at least 910 militants have been killed during a monthslong offensive against Al-Qaeda-linked fighters.

The army also said on September 3 that 82 soldiers have been killed and 269 injured since an operation was launched against fighters with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and other militant groups in the North Waziristan tribal district in June.

Fighting also took place outside of the tribal areas in what the military called "intelligence-led coordinated operations" to prevent reprisal attacks elsewhere in the country.

Air strikes, artillery, mortars, and ground troops have all been used to retake territory in North Waziristan.

The military said the major towns of Miranshah and Mir Ali had now been cleared of insurgents, along with a strategic road running through the district.

The army gave no details of civilian casualties.
