A Pakistani court has granted bail to the owners of a garment factory in the southern city of Karachi where a horrific fire this week killed at least 258 people.
Pakistani police opened a murder case after authorities and relatives of the victims accused the owners of the factory of "criminal negligence" that allegedly led to the massive loss of life.
Reports said the owners ordered all exit routes except one locked down after the fire erupted late on September 11 out of fear of looting and plundering.
A defense lawyer told local media that under the terms of the bail, the court barred police from arresting the three owners of the factory over the next eight days.
The court asked them to surrender their passports and ordered them not to leave the country.
