Pakistan and India have introduced a new visa regime that will make travel between the two neighbors easier.

In the Indian capital New Delhi on December 14, Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik and his Indian counterpart Sushilkumar Shinde signed an accord, which eases visa restrictions.

Malik will also hold security talks with his Indian counterpart.

Malik says the journey toward peace between the two archrivals "is progressing very well because of growing interaction between the two governments."

Members of divided families, tourists, businesspeople, and pilgrims are expected to welcome the new regime because it makes obtaining visas quicker and easier.

Relations between New Delhi and Islamabad deteriorated considerably after 10 alleged Pakistani gunmen killed 166 people in the Indian commercial hub Mumbai in 2008.
