(Washington, DC) In a featured commentary ("Serbia's summons") in today's issue of "The Washington Times," RFE/RL Associate Director of Broadcasting Nenad Pejic analyzes the violent response of many in Serbia to last week's declaration of independence by Kosovo. Pejic concludes that politicians and government officials there must act to prevent "the genie of radical nationalism" from potentially leading to "the start of the dissolution of Serbia" itself.

A front-page commentary by Pejic on the situation in Kosovo ("Kosovo: Divorce is better than a forced marriage") was also published today in one of the Czech Republic's most respected daily newspapers, "Lidove noviny".

Pejic, a former program director of Sarajevo Television who joined RFE/RL in 1993 to create RFE/RL's South Slavic and Albanian Languages Service, has been an Associate Director of Broadcasting since 2002.
