In the latest installment of "Persian Letters," RFE/RL Iran expert Golnaz Esfandiari shares the story of an Iranian cleric who claims he was beaten to the point of hospitalization by a woman he had told to "cover up."

Esfandiari was also recently featured on NPR's "All Things Considered" with Mike Shuster in a report on the impact of sanctions on Iran's willingness to cooperate with the international community over its nuclear program. She also authored the Iran section of the 2012 "Countries at the Crossroads" report, recently published by Freedom House.
