Kosovo and Serbia Presidents Meet: An RFE/RL Balkans Review

The presidents of Kosovo and Serbia met in Brussels today in what was the first such high-level meeting since Pristina declared independence from Serbia nearly five years ago. RFE/RL's Balkan Service offers a regional review.
 
# Prior to today's meeting, Kosovo's President Atifete Jahjaga told Arbana Vidishiqi of RFE/RL's Kosovo Unit that she and Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic would discuss the normalization of bilateral relations, and reaffirmed that the recognition of Kosovo’s independence would bring stability to the region.

# IN PICTURES: For months, ethnic Croat and Bosniak -- or Bosnian Muslim -- factions in the town of Mostar have been locked in a dispute over how to reform the town’s electoral procedures. The feud is representative of the persistent ethnic divides in Bosnia-Herzegovina, and has left Mostar without an approved budget for 2013. As the cash runs out, basic services are threatened, including soup kitchens, kindergartens, firefighters, and school heating.
