Russia's Kolodko Stripped Of London Olympics Silver

Russia's Evgenia Kolodko has been stripped of the silver medal in the women's shot put from the 2012 London Olympics.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) said on August 20 that Kolodko was retroactively disqualified after testing positive for two banned substances -- turinabol and ipamorelin -- in rechecks of her doping samples.

The IOC asked the International Association of Athletics Federations to modify the results and consider any further sanctions against the 36-year-old, who could face a two-year ban.

Kolodko finished third in London but moved up to the silver medal after the competition when the winner, Nadzeya Ostapchuk of Belarus, was revealed to have failed a drug test.

Kolodko adds to a growing list of medal winners caught out in new tests on samples taken in London and at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
