Iraqi Attacks Kill General, Four Police

Iraqi officials say five security officers, including a general, have been killed in a series of attacks.

Officials said the police general, Nadhum Tayeh, was driving to work in Baghdad when gunmen opened fire on his car, killing him.

He was reportedly the third senior Iraqi security officer to be assassinated in the past three days.

In the northern city of Kirkuk, officials said two separate bomb attacks killed four policemen and wounded six other security force members.

Security forces are a top target for insurgents seeking to destabilize Iraq.
