Victims of government-orchestrated repression in the former Soviet Union are being remembered.
On the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions, human rights activists in Russia and other ex-Soviet states are expected to hold vigils.
They will remember the millions of people who fell victim to state-executed repressions, such as mass deportations and imprisonment in forced labor camps, from the 1917 October Revolution to the 1991 collapse of the communist regime.
