Suspected U.S. Drone Strike Kills 14 Alleged Militants In Pakistan

Three suspected U.S. drone strikes in Pakistan's northwest tribal region of North Waziristan have killed 14 alleged militants.

All three strikes targeted vehicles transporting the suspected militants.

The strikes are reported to be the first this year inside Pakistan by the United States military.

It is still not clear whether those killed in the strikes were foreign militants or local Taliban.

The military action came as the Pakistani Taliban confirmed that Uzbek militants had been deployed in an attack on the Karachi airport late on June 8 that left at least 37 people dead.

The last drone strike on Pakistani soil occurred on December 25, 2013, killing three suspected militants.

According to media reports, the strikes had been temporarily halted at the Pakistani government's request.
