TEXT SIZE - +
Goalkeeper Oleksandr Rybka of the Ukrainian football club Shakhtar Donetsk has been banned by the European football federation, UEFA, for two years after testing positive for a prohibited substance.

Rybka, 24, failed a doping test, testing positive for a banned diuretic, following a league game against FC Karpaty on November 27.

If the ban is upheld, Rybka will not be eligible to play for Ukraine in the Euro 2012 championship, which Ukraine is co-hosting together with Poland.

Rybka was considered one of the main candidates for Euro 2012 Ukrainian national team.

Shakhtar says it will appeal the move.
