Violence Across Iraq Leaves At Least 30 Dead


A series of attacks on April 21, including several suicide attacks, killed at least 30 people around Iraq as the country prepares to conduct parliamentary elections on April 30.

The deadliest incident happened near the town of Suweirah, south of Baghdad, when a suicide bomber detonated explosives in his vehicle at a checkpoint, killing at least 12 people and wounding 35 others.

Another suicide bomber blew up a vehicle at a checkpoint in Madain, southeast of Baghdad, killing two people and wounding five.

During the evening, four truck bombs exploded in different areas of Baghdad, killing 14 people and wounding 40 others.

One Iraqi soldier was killed when a roadside bomb exploded as his patrol passed through the town of Mishada, north of Baghdad.

In another incident, a civilian was shot dead in drive-by shootings in the town of Latifiyah, south of Baghdad.
