Daud Khan Khattak is a Senior Editor with RFE/RL's Pakistan Service, Radio Mashaal in Prague. Prior to joining RFE/RL, Khattak worked in Kabul for Afghanistan's Pajhwok Afghan News and in Peshawar for the London "Sunday Times" and the Pakistani English dailies "The News International" and "Daily Times." He has also written for "Foreign Policy," "Christian Science Monitor" and "CTC Sentinel." He is an expert on the militancy in Pakistan's tribal areas, the Pakistani Taliban, and  Pashtun politics and society.
Daud earned a Master’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of Peshawar in 1997.
Daud has published numerous analytical articles on the Pakistani Taliban and terrorism, namely for "The AfPak Channel," a special project of "Foreign Policy" and the New America Foundation. His work also appears regularly on RFE/RL's "Gandhara" blog.

In April 2010, Daud's analysis of the Talibanization of Pakistan's Swat Valley was featured in "The Battle for Pakistan", a report from the New America Foundation in Washington, D.C.

More recently he has written on secularism in Pakistan, regional interference in Pakistan and peace talks with the Taliban.
