Muhammad Tahir is Director of RFE/RL's Turmenistan Service. He joined RFE in 2002 as an editor and broadcaster for the Turkmen Service in Prague. He has also worked as a regional correspondent for IHA Turkish Television News Agency in Islamabad and Kabul, from 1999-2002.
Muhammad Tahir received his Master's Degree (M.A.) from La Salle University in Professional Communication and Public Relations.
Muhammad regularly contributes articles to newspapers, think-tanks, magazines and academic journals in the U.S., Great Britain, Turkey, UAE and Pakistan. He is the author of two books: "Turkmenistan After Niyazov" and "Illegal Dating: A Journey Into The Private Life Of Iran." He frequently takes the stage at political debates and conferences relevant to Central and South Asia.
