Central Asian Religious Leaders Meet Behind Closed Doors

June 9, 2006 -- Religious leaders from across Central Asia are meeting behind closed doors in Dushanbe to discuss how religion can help foster peace and social stability in the region.


Addressing the opening ceremony on June 8, Uzbek Islamic scholar Sheikh Muhammad Sodyq Muhammad Yusuf said this is the first time in 15 years that Central Asian religious leaders have had an opportunity to sit down together and discuss problems.
