Iran says it is filtering 10 million websites (Fars)
PRAGUE, September 15, 2006 (RFE/RL) -- The Paris-based group Reporters Without Borders says Iran is doing its utmost to isolate its citizens from the rest of the world by purging Internet content in the name of "morality."
The press freedom group said it has monitored an increase in filtering since the start of the summer.
The group said Iran's Internet censorship targeted independent news sites, political opposition, and sites dealing with women's issues
Esmail Radkani, an official with Iran's state-run information and technology company, said recently that Iran was filtering 10 million websites.
