Protesters Arrested At G8 Meeting In Russia

A camp for anti-globalization campaigners ahead of a G8 summit in St.Petersburg in July (ITAR-TASS) Russia; September 16, 2006 -- Russian riot police today detained several opposition protesters outside a meeting of delegations from the parliaments of the world's eight leading industrialized countries.

Police said the 10 protesters arrested in St. Petersburg are members of the radical left-wing National Bolshevik party.

The demonstrators were urging the parliamentarians to be more outspoken about the state of democracy in Russia.

Russia heads the Group of Eight (G8) leading industrial countries this year.
