Kazakstan Detains Hundreds Of Illegal Migrants


(RFE/RL) PRAGUE, April 26, 2006 (RFE/RL) -- Officials in Kazakhstan say 530 illegal migrants have been detained near its southern border with Uzbekistan.


Nearly 500 of the migrants were carrying Tajik passports, officials say. Others carried Uzbek, Russian, or Kyrgyz documents.


Two Kazakh citizens have been detained on suspicion of helping the migrants enter the country.
