February 25, 2007 -- Iran warned Turkey today not to reexport the Islamic state's natural gas to other countries. Iran has been exporting gas to Turkey since 2001 under an agreement signed in 1996.
Local media quote Oil Minister Kazem Vaziri-Hamaneh as saying today that based on the agreement, Turkey has no legal right to export Iran's gas to other countries.
The comment follows a visit by Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to Turkey earlier this month in which energy matters are thought to have been discussed.
