May 16, 2007 (RFE/RL) -- The New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists has condemned the recent arrests of four Iranian student editors of Amir Kabir University of Technology in Tehran.

The arrests earlier this month followed the publication of newsletters carrying articles deemed insulting to Islam.

The students say they have no involvement in the publications, calling them a fraud designed to disrupt student elections.
