History
Radio Azadliq was established in 1953, broadcasting on SW to the Soviet Socialist Republic of Azerbaijan.
Radio Azadliq launched its award-winning website in 2004. It is now one of the most popular news websites in Azerbaijan.
In 2007, Radio Azadliq began broadcasting on FM 101.7 to Baku.
Highlights
Radio Azadliq broke the story about the Soviet invasion of Azerbaijan on January 20, 1990.
Every day, Radio Azadliq receives hundreds of text messages and e-mails from listeners and readers. Its flagship program, "Hotline," investigates complaints and stories submitted to the station by its citizens.
With its popular noon-time show, "Dear Baku," and its prime-time show, "After Work," Radio Azadliq offers a rare opportunity for Azerbaijanis to air their views uncensored.
Radio Azadliq is the only radio station in Azerbaijan where representatives of the opposition and government still talk to each other.
