RFE/RL (Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty) is an independent, international news and broadcast organization to Eastern and Southeastern Europe, Russia, the Caucasus, the Middle East to include Iran and Iraq Central and Southwest Asia.

Across our broadcast region, more than 30 million people enjoy and rely on RFE/RL programming. Through broadcasts in 28 languages, RFE/RL provides news, information and responsible discussion of domestic and international issues to countries where free and independent media are not permitted or not yet fully established.

RFE/RL is a nonprofit organization funded by the U.S. Congress. Corporate headquarters are in Washington D.C., but programming originates from our Prague operational headquarters as well as from bureaus in 19 countries.



We are currently seeking a Video Technician to join our Visual Multimedia Department. Reporting to the Associate Director for Visual Media he/ she will shoot and edit a variety of ENG video features, news reports and interviews using varied production techniques with a view to maximum efficiency and visual quality. The incumbent will also be operating camera for studio production, and other video equipment, directing production, and contributing to design of projects. He/she will be striving at all times to ensure the highest possible technical quality of video projects.


Responsibilities:

•Shoots variety of video features, reports and interviews or special events as assigned.
•Responsible for the editing and post-production of the video projects.
•Maintains and services all video and video-related equipment (including cameras, lights, computers etc).
•Responsible for archiving and keeping records of recorded video material.
•Contributes to organizing video production as assigned
•Advises RFE Video Journalists on technical aspects of video production, assists with post-production
•Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

•Relevant technical education, or equivalent specialized training and experience in TV/video production.
•Minimum 5 years TV/video production experience
•Camera knowledge and skills(DV,DVCPRO,P2), non-linear electronic editing skills(Adobe Premiere CS4,Avid Media Composer),
•Capability to operate digital video switcher, knowledge of video broadcast TV systems analog and digital(including HD), color systems (NTSC,PAL),compressions (H264,MPEG, etc)
•Video for internet(Flash)
•Proficiency in English and one or more of RFE/RL's other broadcast languages strongly preferred.
