RFE/RL (Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty) is an independent, international news and broadcast organization to Eastern and Southeastern Europe, Russia, the Caucasus, the Middle East to include Iran and Iraq Central and Southwest Asia.
Across our broadcast region, more than 30 million people enjoy and rely on RFE/RL programming. Through broadcasts in 28 languages, RFE/RL provides news, information and responsible discussion of domestic and international issues to countries where free and independent media are not permitted or not yet fully established.
RFE/RL is a nonprofit organization funded by the U.S. Congress. Corporate headquarters are in Washington D.C., but programming originates from our Prague operational headquarters as well as from bureaus in 19 countries.
We are currently seeking a Production Assistant to join our Visual Multimedia Department. Reporting to the Associate Director for Visual Media, this person will coordinate multimedia content including video and photography output originated by Multimedia Unit for the English-language website and RFE/RL language services. This person will also provide administrative support services
Responsibilities:
•PA will assist the Associate Director for VM and other members of the Multimedia team with intake of videos from the field, organizing and archiving them, working with language services for additional material, and maintaining editing and publishing schedules.
•Individual will maintain archival footage data base and assist in obtaining additional footage and photos for website use. Will transcribe video material as needed.
•Duties will also include researching archival footage and obtaining copyright clearances for video use.
•Will work with the Manager of News Operations in maintaining schedules for use of RFE/RL television studio and creating systems for booking and coordinating requests from Newsroom and language services.
•Will be liaison with Newsroom desks coordinating output from Multimedia unit with stories written by Newsroom.
•Will perform daily administrative support activities He/she will track budget and purchases, and fill out various finance/ administrative forms
Qualifications:
•University degree in journalism, new media, or related field
•At least three years experience in television or video
• Incumbent must possess strong writing and communication skills
•Familiarity with journalism and video production.
•Ability to work under deadline pressure.
•Fluent oral and written English
