RFE/RL (Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty) is an independent, international news and broadcast organization to Eastern and Southeastern Europe, Russia, the Caucasus, the Middle East to include Iran and Iraq Central and Southwest Asia.
Across our broadcast region, more than 30 million people enjoy and rely on RFE/RL programming. Through broadcasts in 28 languages, RFE/RL provides news, information and responsible discussion of domestic and international issues to countries where free and independent media are not permitted or not yet fully established.
RFE/RL is a nonprofit organization funded by the U.S. Congress. Corporate headquarters are in Washington D.C., but programming originates from our Prague operational headquarters as well as from bureaus.
An integral member of the Office of the President (OOP) based in Washington, DC, the incumbent provides Washington-focused administrative support to the President, the Communications Team, and the Counsel's Office, as well as support for public outreach efforts and events support for high-level forums and policy briefings. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the incumbent will also support the general needs of the RFE/RL Washington office and provide administrative backup as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:College degree in a field related to journalism, communications arts, foreign studies or a related field, or equivalent related experience.
Experience:Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate effectively with the general public, as well as perform a variety of administrative functions. Experience in supporting high-level event planning. Demonstrated ability to use standard office software, including the Microsoft Office suite and Lotus Notes.
Special Skills:Strong interpersonal skills; strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize activities/workload. Ability to work independently and to maintain accuracy and attention to detail. An interest in journalism and communication arts a definite plus, as is an interest in foreign affairs.
Languages: Must possess high-level, demonstrable proficiency in English composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation skills.
