RFE/RL (Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty) is an independent, international news and broadcast organization to Eastern and Southeastern Europe, Russia, the Caucasus, the Middle East to include Iran and Iraq Central and Southwest Asia.

Across our broadcast region, more than 30 million people enjoy and rely on RFE/RL programming. Through broadcasts in 28 languages, RFE/RL provides news, information and responsible discussion of domestic and international issues to countries where free and independent media are not permitted or not yet fully established.

RFE/RL is a nonprofit organization funded by the U.S. Congress. Corporate headquarters are in Washington D.C., but programming originates from our Prague operational headquarters as well as from bureaus.



We are currently seeking a Flash Developer with strong technical knowledge and good design skills. This position will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing current flash applications while also developing longer-term projects.

DUTIES:

- The primary job duties will be the development of flash applications in
CSS and HTML or one or more of the following languages/technologies:

AS 2.0 & 3.0
XML
JavaScript

- Implement and design Flash interactivities, banners and templates to meet requirements
- Dynamic Front End / UI Development
- Performance testing and tuning the application as needed
- Performing Quality Assurance (QA) testing on own projects as well as the projects of co-workers.
- CSS/JavaScript bug fixing functionality in the existing application



Qualifications:

• Extensive knowledge of HTML and CSS
• Extensive knowledge of Flash
• University degree or college diploma in Computer Science or a design-related field, and a minimum of four years' experience in website development, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• 1-3 years experience in a similar position, with ability to build flash applications using AS 2.0 & 3.0, XML, HTML & CSS
• Good knowledge of Adobe Flash streaming server and Flash Interactive server.
• Good knowledge of web design programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator. Good design skills.
• Knowledge of the principles and methods of web technologies, tools and delivery systems.
• Customer service-oriented with strong communication skills, and experience providing technical support to users in a business setting
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently to solve problems
• Ability to function effectively with people from widely different national and cultural backgrounds
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly
• Languages: Proficiency in English, communicative knowledge of Czech and/or an RFE/RL broadcasting language a plus.
