I AM TRYING TO LISTEN ON SHORTWAVE. WHAT DO I DO?

RFE/RL LIVE REALAUDIO FEEDBACK

HOW DO I LISTEN TO RFE/RL ON THE INTERNET?
All RFE/RL Internet broadcasts are in RealAudio format. To listen:

Download the RealPlayer from RealNetworks.com. [NOTE: RealNetworks offer a free basic version of the latest player which works for all RFE/RL broadcasts. Go to RFE/RL's Internet Broadcasts page and select the language service you are interested in. Click LISTEN to hear the broadcast at the scheduled times.

NOTE: The link to download the FREE version, labeled "Free Player" is listed in gray in the middle of that page. Our audio files work with RealAudio player but not with any other Windows Media players.

WHY DO I HEAR A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE?
RFE/RL broadcasts in 33 languages and all programs share thirteen radio channels. During the day a channel can carry up to three different language programs at different times. You need to listen in at the scheduled times for the programs you're interested in. Please refer to the time zone converter to find your UTC.

WHY AM I NOT HEARING ANY SOUND?
The problem you are having is likely because there is no broadcast on air when you click to LISTEN. RFE/RL broadcasts are streamed LIVE on the Internet and the web page indicates the LIVE times in UTC(Universal Time Code.)

WHY DO I GET ERROR MESSAGES FROM THE REALPLAYER?
Most likely because the player cannot find the broadcast stream. This could mean the link you are using is not working. To fix this:

1)Quit the RealPlayer
2)Go to the RFE/RL's web page of live RealAudio and click LISTEN.

If problems continue, try clearing the cache in your browser and repeat the two steps above.
[To clear cache in your browser go to Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Cache and clear out cache. ]

I AM RECEIVING ERRORS #14 OR #29. WHAT DO I DO?
The error message you are getting is possibly because you're using a bookmarked address to connect to the broadcast. If you quit out of the RealPlayer and click LISTEN again from the RealAudio web page, it should work.
