A Struggle To Make Ends Meet For Bishkek's Luli Children

The Luli minority of Kyrgyzstan is a formerly nomadic group, ethnically distinct from its Central Asian neighbors. During the Soviet era, authorities forced the Luli in Central Asia to stop their nomadic way of life and settle on plots of land provided by the state. Today, many Luli families in Kyrgyzstan live in poverty and some children in Bishkek resort to begging to help their families get by. RFE/RL's Kseniya Shilin documented the plight of these Luli children. (8 PHOTOS)
