The Museum of the Socialist Way of Life displays Soviet-era uniforms, toys, telephones, and even a jacket made out of the covers of Communist Party membership booklets. For some visitors, the museum offers a nostalgia trip; for others, it's a visit to the unfamiliar territory of the recent past. (Video by RFE/RL's Tatar-Bashkir Service)

No doubt that this Kazan museum of late Soviet-era artifacts (http://muzeisb.ru/) would be a bigger tourist attraction than a Stalinist-era GULAG museum, such as one might find in Moscow (http://www.museum-gulag.narod.ru/)

However, no doubt a suitable documentary to go along with the CCCP museum of a fun childhood in the 1980s in Russia might be the American-made and excellent "My Perestoika" film (http://myperestroika.com/)
