About the Fellowship
A Father's Legacy
The Jiri Dienstbier Journalism Fellowship, a joint initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and RFE/RL to promote free media in the Balkans, is inspired by Jiri Dienstbier Sr.’s outstanding work in the fields of journalism, foreign policy, and human rights.
Jasmina LAZIC, Serbia: Ms. Lazic writes for the highly respected weekly magazine Vreme and also was a features editor for the Serbian version of ELLE magazine. She has reported for the Serbian language editions of The Economist and The Washington Post, and has worked for Moja Polisa, a popular TV program, as a broadcaster and anchor. She also has experience in radio journalism, having worked for B92 and Index radio stations. In 2015 she was awarded a scholarship by the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN). She holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Belgrade, and speaks Serbian, Croatian, English, and German.
Milena MITROVIC, Bosnia and Herzegovina: Ms. Mitrovic has worked for Radio Osvit and as a correspondent for ATV Banjaluka, ELTA TV, and BN TV. Ms. Mitrovic is a devoted radio journalist, and believes that one of the main responsibilities of a journalist is to inform citizens about political and social issues. She is fluent in English, Serbian, and Croatian.
