Born: 12 January 1912 in the city of Verny (now called Almaty)

Died: 22 August 1993

1936 -- completes Moscow Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals and Gold with degree in mining engineering

1939 -- joins Communist Party

1942-52 -- deputy chairman of Council of People's Commissars of Kazakh SSR

1952-55 -- chairman of the Academy of Sciences for Kazakh SSR

1955-60 -- chairman of Council of Ministers of Kazakh SSR

1960-62 -- first secretary of Communist Party of Kazakh SSR

1962-64 -- chairman of the Council of Ministers of Kazakh SSR

1964-86 -- first secretary of Communist Party of Kazakh SSR
