Married, two children

1973 -- Completes graduate work at the Academy of Sciences of the USSR

1973-91 -- Works at the Uzbek SSR Academy of Sciences in the Cybernetics Institute as a junior research assistant, eventually becoming laboratory head

1980 -- Becomes a member of the Communist Party of the USSR

11 November 1988 -- Co-founds the Birlik Popular Movement

28 May 1989 -- Tries, unsuccessfully, to become a "people's deputy" of Uzbekistan to the USSR

1989-90 -- Co-founds the Birlik Popular Movement
