1999 -- Is reportedly among group of Uzbeks in the area of Tavil-Dara village, Tajikistan; in August, a large group of armed ethnic Uzbeks (along with others) descends into southern Kyrgyzstan, takes hostages, battles Kyrgyz forces, and announces they are the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, demand clear passage through Kyrgyz territory to Uzbekistan, where they say their goal is to overthrow the Karimov government

November 2000 -- Uzbekistan's Supreme Court tries Yuldash in absentia, sentences him to death

March 2004 -- Is reportedly wounded in fighting with Pakistani security forces in the Waziristan tribal area of western Pakistan, along the Afghan border
