25 December 1994 -- Parliamentary elections held

26 November 1994 -- "Narodnoye Slovo" publishes Watan Taraqqiyoti manifesto

17 November 1994 --Nomination of parliament candidates ends with 643 candidates for 250 seats: 274 are HDP, 146 are Watan Taraqqiyoti, 250 from representative power bodies, 62 are current MPs, 50 are women

1 November 1994 -- President Karimov edict pardons Birlik leader Pulatjon Okhunov, Erk leader Atanazar Aripov, Birlik Namangan Chairman Nosir Zakir, and Imonjon Tursunov, Erk leader in Fergana Oblast

29 October 1994 -- Anwar Yuldashev elected chairman of Watan Taraqqiyoti at second party congress

2 October 1994 -- President Karimov's new book, "Seeing a Noble Affair to the End" published

30 September 1994 -- "Narodnoye Slovo" reports 50,000 signatures needed to register for elections, no more than 10 percent of signatures can be from any one province, signatures must be submitted within 20 days of day the election date is set

23 September 1994 -- Supreme Soviet names 25 December as parliamentary election day

18 September 1994 -- Two officially registered parties to take part in parliamentary elections: Watan Taraqqiyoti and People's Democratic Party

1 July 1994 -- The real som is issued

17 May 1994 -- "Izvestiya" reports Birlik members arrested: Tolib Yakubov at apartment of relatives on 10 May and Vasiliya Inoyatova on May 12 in Chernyayevka; also, Kazakhstan says human rights activist Mikhail Ardzinov and Momura Usmanova, chairwoman of Society of Free Women ("Tumaris") arrested on 16 May
