Daghestani Prime Minister Resigns


13 October 2004 -- The prime minister of Russia's republic of Daghestan has resigned.

Daghestan's State Council made the announcement today, saying Prime Minister Khizri Shikhsaidov decided to step down from his post.

State Council chairman Magomedali Magomedov said Atay Aliyev has been named acting prime minister.
