Israel, Palestinians To Declare Cease-Fire

7 February 2005 -- Reports say Israeli and Palestinian leaders will declare a formal end to more than four years of fighting at their summit meeting tomorrow.

Palestinian Minister for Negotiations Saeb Erekat is quoted as saying that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Palestinian Authority President Mahmud Abbas will announce the cease-fire at the summit in the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.

Erekat said this announcement will be the most important thing to emerge from the summit.

An Israeli government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the cease-fire agreement, adding that the deal would also include an end to Palestinian incitement against Israel.
