NATO Foreign Ministers To Meet

20 April 2005 -- NATO foreign ministers were to begin two days of informal talks today in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius.

The situation in the Balkans, Afghanistan, and Iraq are expected to dominate discussions.

There will also be informal meetings of the NATO-Russia Council and the NATO-Ukraine Commission.

Security has been tightened in Vilnius for the meeting with some 1,000 police and soldiers deployed around the hotel where the ministers will be meeting. Norwegian fighters based at a nearby Lithuanian air base will protect the air space over Vilnius.
