Saudi King Meets With Musharraf


(RFE/RL) 2 February 2006 -- Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah has held talks in Pakistan with President General Pervez Musharraf.


Pakistani news reports said the two leaders discussed strengthening economic cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan and the need to eradicate terrorism.


Pakistan's "Dawn" newspaper reported that King Abdullah was honored with Pakistan's highest award, Nishan-e-Pakistan, for his work to promote ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.


The Saudi monarch met with Musharraf after arriving on 1February in Islamabad. The king was expected to meet today with Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.


It is the first visit to Pakistan by a Saudi monarch in 30 years.
