Putin Starts Visit To Spain


Vladimir Putin (epa) 8 February 2006 -- Russian President Vladimir Putin is today starting a visit to European Union member Spain.

Putin is expected to meet with King Juan Carlos and hold talks with Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero during the two-day visit.


Officials said the talks between the Russian and Spanish sides are expected to touch on a wide array of topics, including cooperation in the fight against terrorism, Russian energy supplies to Europe, and Russia's relations with the European Union. Ways to increase Russian-Spanish economic cooperation are also expected to be discussed.
