Iraq Arrests Suspects In Murder Of State TV Editor

(RFE/RL) March 18, 2006 -- The Iraqi Defense Ministry today said six men had been arrested over last week's assassination of Al-Iraqiya state television editor Amjad Hamid.

It says the suspects were apprehended in the course of the ongoing U.S.-Iraqi military operation against insurgents based near Samarra.

Defense Minister Sa'dun al-Dulaymi had initially said the six were suspected of killing three employees of the Dubai-based Al-Arabiya television network.

Hamid and his driver were killed in central Baghdad on March 11.
