Talks On Iraq Cabinet Continue

Iraqi Prime Minister-designate Nuri Kamil al-Maliki (file photo) (epa) May 13, 2006 -- Iraqi Prime Minister-designate Nuri Kamil al-Maliki is holding talks with the representatives of major political factions today in a bid to move forward on naming a cabinet.

Iraq's parliament is due to reconvene on May 14. Officials said al-Maliki will be presenting his candidates to party leaders for their approval over the next two days.

A decision on the cabinet has been stalled in recent weeks, reportedly due to conflicts over the leadership of the key Oil Ministry and the Interior Ministry.
