Bosnian Serb Commander Gets 20 Years


(RFE/RL) May 26, 2006 -- Bosnia's war crimes court today sentenced a Bosnian Serb former officer to 20 years in jail for crimes against humanity during the 1992-95 Bosnia war.

The court said Dragoje Paunovic ordered and carried out persecution, murders, and inhumane acts against Muslim civilians.


The Bosnian court was established last year alleviate some of the workload of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia at The Hague, Netherlands.
