Russian Arrested For Spying For Lithuania

(RFE/RL) October 24, 2006 -- Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) has arrested an official in the Kaliningrad region for allegedly spying for Lithuania.

The FSB said Vasily Khitryuk, an official with the Federal Penitentiary Service, had been caught with electronic devices containing "state secrets."

He had allegedly been gathering military secrets from former colleagues serving in the army and other security forces.

Earlier this month, Lithuania expelled a Russian diplomat on suspicion of spying.
