UN Court Backs Sentence Of Former Bosnian Croat Soldier

Bosnia-Herzegovina is still bridging its differences (RFE/RL) April 2, 2207 -- The UN war-crimes tribunal in The Hague today upheld the 20-year sentence of a former Bosnian Croat soldier who pleaded guilty in 2005 to the murder, rape, and torture of Muslim civilians during the Bosnian war.

Miroslav Bralo changed his plea to guilty during the trial on eight counts of war crimes and human rights abuses during the 1993 Muslim-Croat war in central Bosnia.

The court today cited the seriousness of the crimes committed for upholding the sentence.
