Russia Calls For Probe Of Journalist's Death


Dmitry Chebotayev (undated file photo) (AFP) May 8, 2007 -- Russia today urged an inquiry into the death of a Russian news photographer who was killed in Iraq while accompanying U.S.-led coalition troops.


Foreign Ministry spokesman Mikhail Kamynin said in a statement that Russia is calling for a "painstaking inquiry into the incident."


Freelance photographer Dmitry Chebotayev was killed on May 6 along with six coalition soldiers when their vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb in Diyala Governorate.
