U.S. Senate Refuses To Cut Iraq War Funding

May 16, 2007 -- The U.S. Senate has rejected legislation that would cut off money for U.S. combat operations in Iraq after March 31, 2008.

The proposal had been expected to fall short of the number needed to advance under Senate rules.

President George W. Bush had said he would veto the measure if it passed.
